OUAT fanfic

This is just the intro and what not and all that jazz. And a rough draft. 

 

Beep. Beep. Beep.

A groan and a shuffle a hand thrust out from under the soft warm blankets and firmly planted itself upon the alarm to shut it off.

It was Monday. The Monday after the full moon. Emma had been kind enough to give her the time off. The sheriff knew how hard the full moon could be for her deputy. Aurelia wanted nothing but to roll over and sleep but that blissful notion was crushed when her phone rang. Groaning she grabbed it and answered.

"Beckett."

"Rise and shine sleeping beauty," Emma's tone was commanding and Aurelia immediately knew by the tone that something was off.

"Swan…what is it…you wouldn't call me if it wasn't urgent."

A pause on the phone…and then.

"It's Archie…"

There was a heaviness to Emma's tone. Aurelia sat up in her bed now worried. Any lethargy and weariness had swept away. She was alert now.

"Emma. Do you need me down at the station?"

"Get down here as fast as you can Rei. I have a feeling I know who might be behind this"

And Emma hung up. Rei stared at her phone and felt an eerie unease fill her gut. Whenever Sheriff Swan said she knew who might be behind something she always meant Regina which in turn made Rei want to call Regina to get the scoop. She leapt out of bed and quickly dressed. Blue jeans a tank top and cardigan would work fine. As she hastily pulled on her clothes she dialed the number to Regina's cell. She knew the woman always had her cell phone on her person. Three rings and then:

"Deputy."

"Hi Regina." Rei replied pulling on her boots.

"You wouldn't be calling me if something wasn't urgent."

"Regina, something's happened to Archie. Emma has a feeling she knows who was behind it."\

A heavy sigh.

"She thinks I had something to do with it doesn't she." There was a slightly sour note in Regina's voice.

"Yeah. I think she might be having a hard time accepting that you are really trying to change. Besides. I know you Regina. You aren't a horrible person."

"Thanks for your vote of confidence."

"We could argue that all day honey. I just want to know if you knew anything."

A pause.

"I don't know anything Aurelia."

"You sure?"

"Yes. I tried going to his office yesterday and he wasn't there."

"Okay. I'll let Emma know."

"Thanks Rei. Be careful."

Aurelia grinned.

"When am I not careful?"

"I'll call you later Rei."

With that the women hung up. Rei grabbed her coat, her keys and her purse before whisking out the door and hoped to god she was right about Regina.
